The 2018 Bocuse d’Or Europe selection brings novelty into the continental selection cycle with a unexpected ingredient that will have to be used by the contestants: the mystery ingredient of the 1st day of the contest has just been unveiled, and that is the most traditional ingredient of Italian cuisine … pasta!
On the eve of the first day of the European selection of Bocuse d’Or, the 10 chefs competing on Monday 11th June have just discovered that they will have to add in their recipe the most famous pasta in the world: spaghetti. More specifically, Barilla Spaghetti n°3 is the product drawn today by the members of the committee. The product that symbolizes the essence of the Italian identity worldwide will be challenging the improvisation capacity of the first contestants.
Pasta is now not only the simple much-loved dish of the Italian tradition of fine food, but becomes an essential ingredient in the elite range of ingredients used in haute cuisine.
Along with the Piedmontese official products selected this year, for the first time ever in the history of the contest, pasta will be one of the star products of the Bocuse d’Or!
