Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie
“Since its creation in 1989, the Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie stands out thanks to its unique openness, welcoming talents from all horizons and promoting new nations on the international stage. Every two years the contest brings together in Lyon 22 teams who offer a superb live performance, demonstrating dazzling artistic creativity and gourmet excellence.” Gabriel Paillasson
The prestigious Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie international contest was held for the first time in 1989 by talented pastry chef Gabriel PAILLASSON. Toward the end of the 1980s, in the wake of the success encountered by the Bocuse d’Or contest, Mr Paillasson decided to create a similar event dedicated to pastry chefs and the first edition of the Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie was held on January 21st and 22nd 1989 in Lyon, France. Today, the grand final of the contest is held every two years at Lyon, as part of Sirha – World Hospitality & Food Service Event. In January 2015, Emmanuele FORCONE, Francesco BOCCIA and Fabrizio DONATONE (Italy) came first in the final in Lyon.
