MOROCCO WINS THE FIRST Bocuse d’Or Africa

Marrakesh hosted the first African selection of Bocuse d’Or on June 30th. 6 teams competed for only 2 places for the Finale, scheduled to take place in January 2019, in Lyon (France) during the Sirha trade show: Algeria, Burkina Faso, Gabon, Morocco, Senegal and Tunisia.

Chef Aissam AIT OUAKRIM from Morocco won this first edition! Marwne YOUNSSI from Tunisia and Alioune DIOP from Senegal achieved the second and third places of the podium. Morocco and Tunisia are the 2 qualified countries from the African continent to go to the Bocuse d’Or Finale.

Morocco participated in 2013 and in 2015 to the Bocuse d’Or contest, represented by Issam Jaafari, and in 2017 with Aissam Ait Ouakrim, thanks to exceptional “Wild Cards” granted to the country following the efforts to promote gastronomy through Crémai. Morocco is the only Arab and African country which was present at the competition on the 24 nations.
