Sirha Mexico closes its first edition way above expectations!

Sirha, the international hotel and food service event, clearly made the difference in combining an extremely rich animations content with a comprehensive and international offering. The highly qualitative trade show attracted 8973 high profile professional visitors. This successful first edition opens the way for the next event to take place in Mexico City on February 8 to 10, 2017.

314 high profile exhibitors and brands – including more than 70 international brands, and new companies coming to Mexico for the first time!

The global prestige of Sirha, the World Hospitality and Food Service Event brought together the best professionals, world-class chef contests and new alternatives in the Hospitality and Food Service Industry in Mexico. This edition’s ambition was to present a comprehensive offering to restaurant and hotel visitors, who can find anything they may need for their business in one unique place. 314 exhibitors and brands presented their products and services, from food and beverages to kitchen equipment, tableware, coffee, services to professional visitors.

An exciting and rich program, packed with contests and animations

Sirha’s DNA is to combine a professional exhibition with contests and events, which contribute to its unique business and festive atmosphere.

The contest area showcased competitions around the 2 key areas in food service: cuisine and pastry making, featuring 10 countries from Latin America.

Fans of Bocuse d’Or Latin American Selection were able to watch the battles between duos composed of candidates from 10 countries of the continent: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, Peru and Uruguay. World-famous chefs Enrique Olvera, Gaston Acurio and Martha Ortiz as part of the jury elected the plate of Brazilian lady chef Giovanna Grossi (1st place), Jessika Toni from Uruguay (2nd place) and Marcos José Saenz (3rd place) to represent the Latin American continent at the world final in Lyon, France in January 2017. For the first time, 2 young and talented women are on the podium.

Copa Maya-Coupe du Monde de la Pâtisserie organized a battle between 6 countries: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru. 12 pastry chefs competing against each other and Jorge Garcia (sugar) and Mariano Zichet (chocolate) from Argentina won the first prize. Mexico won the second prize, and on the third place, Chile. Those 3 countries get their ticket for the Grand Finale of Coupe du Monde de la Patisserie, taking place in January at Sirha Lyon, alongside Brazil that gets a wild card thanks to its 4th place.

A full program of conferences also captured the audience. Conferences on Mexican topical themes such as Pre-Hispanic Cooking and Spirits; The Gastronomy Industry: A Profitable Business; Tasting in Nutrition; The Riedel Experience, and other demonstrations on the Gastronomic and Beverages Forum, including tastings: Tea, Virgen Oil, Beers, Champagne and Coffee, covered the wide scope of topics related to hotels and food service.

High visitor profile and growing attendance

Sirha Mexico gathered 8973 professionals from the Hospitality and Food Service industry, including 23% bakery/pastry shops, 21% restaurants, 18% importers/wholesalers, 10% catering services and 7% hotels.

More important, a large majority of them were decision-makers with 46% general managers or owners of hotels and restaurants, chefs and F&B managers. (*) % of answers
