THE BOCUSE D’OR EUROPE 2018 IS HEADING SOUTH AND WILL BE HELD AT TURIN IN THE HEART OF PIEDMONT

For the very first time in the history of the contest, the Bocuse d’Or Europe travelling event will take place in Southern Europe. After Norway, Switzerland, Belgium, Sweden and Hungary, it is now the tum of Italy – and the region of Piedmont in particular – to be chosen by the organisers of the contest to host the European finale of the Bocuse d’Or 2018. This choice reflects the strong motivation of Southern European countries boasting a solid gastronomic reputation to become major players in the Bocuse d’Or – the ‘Mount Everest of Cooking’ – following in the footsteps of the Northern European countries that are present since the beginning of the contest.

The Piedmont region has many assets that make it an ideal setting to host the greatest cooking contest in Europe: products from a rich terroir (white truffle from Alba, Piedmont hazelnuts, Piedmontese cattle breed and veal, 9 PDO cheeses…), many starred chefs (Eight one-star restaurants in Turin, Piazza Duomo 3* in Alba and dozens more throughout the region), as well as a show dedicated to top-quality products organized by GL events: the Gourmet trade show that will host the contest at the LINGOTTO Fiere arena.

From June 11th to 12th, 2018, 20 young European chefs who qualified by winning their respective national rounds will attempt to succeed Tamas Szell (Hungary) and win the European Trophy as well as their ticket to participate in the 17th Bocuse d’Or world finale that will be held in January 2019 as part of the Sirha trade show in Lyon, France.
